KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has expressed his displeasure over the issuance of arrest warrants for General Secretary Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ and other top leaders of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN).
Speaking at a discussion with selected editors at his office in Singha Darbar on Monday, Dahal said that whatever happened was wrong. “The government has already struck a deal with the revolutionaries. They have come to the peace process. They shouldn’t be forced to return,” Dahal said. “We are trying to understand this development. More details will come later.”
The Kathmandu District Court has issued 35-day arrest warrants for Biplab, Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma, Hemanta Prakash Oli, Maila Lama, and Raju Karki.
Biplab is also a member of the Socialist Front formed by different political parties.
The NCP joined peaceful politics after signing an agreement with the government in 2019. NCP leaders had been continuously pressuring the government to withdraw the case based on the agreement reached with the government.
