Dahal accuses govt of fueling public discontent Politics, Parliament, Pushpa Kamal Dahal

KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Center) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal said that the current situation demands a simultaneous struggle against the government and regressive forces.

Sepaking in the meeting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, Dahal said attempts were being made to reverse all our achievements. “We now face a unique situation where we must fight on two fronts: against the government’s wrongdoings and regressive activities,” he added.

Dahal said that and poor governance by the government has led to widespread disillusionment with the system. “Eight months ago, there was no such level of discontent. Even Maitighar Mandala was nearly empty. Now, protests are erupting everywhere,” he added.

The former prime minsiter also warned former King Gyanendra Shah and pro-monarchy faces against undermining Nepal’s peace process and the essence of the republic. Dahal also said pro-monarchy forces are becoming active with the backing of forces within and outside the country.

Dahal also accused the government of being run by intermediaries. He also criticized the Prime Minister for the continuous absence of the main opposition leader from the rostrum, questioning whether it was due to frustration or arrogance.
