Court extends remand of Chaudhary, two others by three days

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has extended the remand of the three individuals arrested for the Bansbari land scam by an additional three days.

The police arrested Arun Kumar Chaudhary, the chairman and managing director of CG Holdings; Ajit Narayan Thapa, the former chairman of Bansbari Leather and Shoes Company Ltd; and Sanjaya Thakur, a director of The Chandbagh School on Thursday. They are under investigation for allegedly registering 10 ropanis of the company’s land as private property.

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the Nepal Police is looking into fraud and forgery charges against the trio. CIB personnel are currently obtaining statements from them in the presence of representatives from the Kathmandu District Government Attorney’s Office.

The three individuals, however, are not currently in police custody. All three have been referred to the Grande International Hospital.
