KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that coordinated efforts among various bodies related to the anti-money laundering system is a must to combat financial crimes.

Speaking during the National Anti-Money Laundering Day celebrations in Kathmandu on Monday, Oli stressed the importance of coordination among reporting agencies, regulatory bodies, law enforcement agencies, and judicial bodies involved in this system to combat financial crimes. “The anti-money laundering system must work effectively to prevent the entry of illegally obtained assets into the financial system and maintain financial integrity,” Oli said. “The criminal use of assets poses a challenge not only to the economy but also to governance integrity.”

He urged everyone to carry out their professions and businesses with good intentions and to work with confidence in their professional and occupational lives.

The first Anti-Money Laundering Day was celebrated in Kathmandu on Monday. The Department of Money Laundering Investigation organized the celebration under the theme “Transparency in Financial Activities, Commitment to Anti-Money Laundering.”
