KATHMANDU: Victims of cooperative fraud staged a protest in Kathmandu on Friday, demanding the return of their savings.
The demonstration was organised at Maitighar under the leadership of the National Federation of Cooperative Victims, calling for the full refund of all deposited amounts and for legal action against those responsible for the fraud.
Protesters carried placards with slogans like “No gas, no fuel, no money saved in cooperatives,” “Enact laws to punish cooperative fraudsters,” “Do not conspire to divide victims,” and “Return depositors’ money.”
Kushalbh KC, president of the National Campaign for the Protection of Cooperative Depositors, said the new government must take the issue of cooperative victims seriously. Stating that the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RCP) had pledged to ensure the return of deposits within 100 days of the formation of government, he urged the party to fulfill its commitments.
KC said they were against signing any new agreements and instead focused on ensuring that depositors get their money back.
