KATHMANDU:  The Cooperative Sector Reform Suggestion Taskforce has submitted its report to the government.

The taskforce submitted its report to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal  on Tuesday, according to Gokarna Mani Duwadi, Secretary at the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation.

A cabinet meeting held on May 9 had formed the taskforce under the leadership of Dr  Jayakant Raut, a member of the National Planning Commission.

The taskforce has suggested different measures to solve problems seen in the cooperative sector. Duwadi shared that the taskforce has suggested that the government implement some plans to provide immediate relief to victims of cooperatives. Similarly, it also suggested to the government to initiate legal reforms in order to resolve problems in the cooperative sector. “The report contains short-term, mid-term, and long-term suggestions,” Duwadi added.

Receiving the report, Prime Minister Dahal directed the relevant bodies to take initiatives to resolve the problems seen in the cooperative sector and formulate necessary policies for a long-term solution.
