KATHMANDU: Nepal’s Consul General to Hong Kong and Macao SAR, Bindeswar Prasad Lekhak, met with Macao SAR Secretary for Economy and Finance Tai Kin Ip on Thursday.
During the meeting at the Secretary’s office, Lekhak highlighted Macao SAR as a key destination for Nepali workers and discussed their welfare, including facilitating extended visit visas for workers’ families. The discussion also covered trade, investment, and tourism opportunities between Nepal and Macao SAR, according to a statement issued by the Nepali Consulate in Hong Kong.
On the occasion, Secretary Tai Kin Ip acknowledged the significant contribution of Nepali workers to the local economy and expressed his interest in further strengthening trade and people-to-people exchanges.
Lekhak also met with Liu Xianfa, Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in Macao SAR.
“The two exchanged congratulatory messages on the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and China,” the statement said. “Lekhak reaffirmed Nepal’s commitment to the One China Principle and emphasized the country’s long-standing, trusted partnership with China, while Commissioner Liu congratulated Lekhak on his appointment and expressed interest in collaborating on labor diplomacy, trade, investment and student exchanges.”
