KATHMANDU: Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Ramnath Adhikari, has directed all concerned to immediately complete the construction of the wholesale flower and fruit market in Chobar, Kathmandu.
Minister Adhikari visited Cobhar for inspection on Friday afternoon as construction of the multi-story building project, which began in 2014 with a three-year completion target, remains unfinished even today.
The construction deadline has already been extended 11 times. Although the 11th deadline is expiring in a few days, 13% of the work on the multi-story building spread over 23 ropanis is still incomplete.
Expressing concern over the delay, Minister Adhikari instructed the contractor to complete the work within the specified timeline. He warned of legal action if the work is not completed as per the agreement. He also promised necessary facilitation from the ministry for early completion of the project.
The contractor bagged the project for Rs 350 million. The cost has now escalated to Rs 400 million because of the protracted delays.
