KATHMANDU: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Prabhu Ram Sharma on Wednesday made public the achievements accomplished during his three-year tenure as the head of the Nepal Army.
Sharma, who is set to retire on September 9, 2024, will begin his home leave on Friday. On the eve of his departure, he addressed senior army officials and informed them about the accomplishments of his tenure.
Reviewing the goals set for his tenure and the achievements made, COAS Sharma instructed the army personnel to always embrace honesty, loyalty, selflessness, and continuous hard work as their core principles in fulfilling their responsibilities.
“I request you to prioritize institutional interests over personal ones and work for the benefit of the nation and the organization. I trust that my successor will receive the same support and cooperation as I did,” he said.
On the occasion, COAS Sharma provided updates on various infrastructure projects undertaken by the Nepal Army during his tenure.
He highlighted the commencement of contract work for 12 packages of the Kathmandu-Terai Madhesh Expressway, breakthroughs in four out of nine tunnels of the expressway and initiation of high bridge construction for the first time in Nepal.
He also said all procedural work for the National Defense University has been completed.
On the occasion, COAS Sharma presented the “Chief of Army Staff Commendation” to four civilians and 50 military personnel for their contributions to the Nepal Army across various fields.
