KATHMANDU: The Confederation of Nepali Teachers (CNT) staged a sit-in at the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) head office in Banasthali on Tuesday, demanding amendments to the School Education Bill.
The RSP is an opposition party in the House of Representatives.
The protest at the RSP office was part of the CNT’s first phase of agitation launched to press the government to revise the Bill in line with past agreements reached with it, according to the confederation’s President Laxmi Kishor Subedi.
The CNT staged a similar sit-in at the central office of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal in Balkumari, Lalitpur, on Monday. It staged a similar protest at the central office of the CPN (Unified Socialist) in Aloknagar, Kathmandu, on Sunday.
Similar protest programs were also held at education development and coordination units across all districts on Sunday.
The CNT has already submitted a memorandum to the government demanding amendments to the bill.
It has also staged protests at the central offices of major political parties, including the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center) and drawn the attention of all 753 local governments as well.
