KATHMANDU: A corruption case has been filed against Nepali Congress leader Santosh Chalise.
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Sunday filed a charge sheet at the Special Court against Chalise, who was elected from the Kathmandu-3 seat of the House of Representatives in 2022.
Special Court Spokesperson Yagya Raj Regmi said Chalise has been charged with amassing illegal assets. According to Regmi, the CIAA is seeking to recover Rs 36.84 million from the defendants.
Chalise is also a former mayor of Gokarneshwar Municipality. He has been recommended as a candidate for the Kathmandu–3 seat in the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5.
