KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a case of misuse of public property against 19 individuals, including Lumbini Province Assembly member Janaki Prasad Yadav, at the Special Court.
Yadav was elected to the provincial assembly from the Kapilvastu-3(B) seat from Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the anti-graft body announced that it has filed a charge sheet against 16 forest officials, including the then District Forest Officer Krishna Dutta Bhatta, then Divisional Forest Officer Durga Bahadur Karki, forest officer Mahendra Raj Wagle, assistant forest officer Brahmadev Mahato, ranger Hemraj Pandit, then assistant forest officer Shiva Shankar Prasad, assistant forest officer Tolak Raj Chapagain, assistant forest officer Lal Babu Jha, assistant forest officer Ganesh Kumar Tharu, then assistant forest officer Nagendra Prasad Singh Rajput, forester Ram Raksha Kurmi, forest guard Sanjaya Tharu, forest guard Sanjaya Kewat, forest guard Ram Gopal Tripathi, forester Ramatu Chaudhary, and forest guard Basude Godiya. CIAA is seeking to recover Rs 2.91 million from each of them.
Similarly, CIAA is seeking to recover Rs 2.91 million from provincial assembly member Yadav, Rs 939,135 from Eknath Ghimire of Gorkha Manakamana Furniture Industry, and Rs 1.97 million from Gita GC of A R Wood Distribution Center.
They have been accused of stealing timber from a government forest and selling it in the local market.
