KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has arrested Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) Director General Pradip Adhikari for investigation on corruption charges.
According to a CIAA source, Adhikari has been detained for his alleged involvement in irregularities related to the construction of a heliport in Nalinchowk, Bhaktapur.
The constitutional anti-graft body has also arrested CAAN’s chief engineer, Murahari Bhandari.
The CIAA is preparing to file a charge sheet against individuals involved in irregularities in heliport construction.
The heliport, which was inaugurated in June last year, was built at an estimated cost of Rs 110 billion. It has the capacity to park 17 helicopters.
