Chitralekha Yadav named as ambassador to Australia

KATHMANDU: The government has recommended Nepali Congress (NC) leader and former Deputy Speaker Chitralekha Yadav as Nepal’s ambassador to Australia.

A cabinet meeting held on Monday took the decision.

Earlier, the government had picked Kanta Rijal for the position. However, her name was not forwarded to the Parliamentary Hearing Committee after she faced allegations of abandoning one of her aides in Israel while returning home after completing her term as ambassador.

All ambassadorial nominations must be endorsed by the Parliamentary Hearing Committee.
