KATHMANDU: Chinese ambassador to Nepal Chen Song paid a courtesy call on Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Ramesh Rijal, at the latter’s office on Monday.
During the meeting, the two discussed bilateral relations, development assistance and the gradual opening of border points
Rijal praised Song’s efforts to further Nepal-China relations and added that he is hopeful that the relations will strengthen further in the coming days. Expressing commitment against allowing anti-China activities on Nepali soil, Rijal said Nepal holds China in high esteem for respecting Nepal’s sovereignty, geographical integrity and independence.
Rijal urged the Chinese envoy to take the necessary initiatives to hold the meeting of the Nepal-China Joint Consultation Mechanism to implement the transit treaty that the two countries signed in 2016.
In response, Ambassador Song expressed gratitude for Nepal’s one-China policy. Song said he was hopeful that Npeal-China relations will strengthen further in the coming days and that China was positive about extending development assistance and foreign direct investment in Nepal.
