KATHMANDU: A charge sheet is being filed against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane at the Kaski District Court on Sunday.
Lamichhane has been in the custody of Kaski police since October 19. The police submitted their investigation report on Lamichhane and other accused to the District Government Attorney’s Office, Kaski, last week. In the report, the police recommended that the government attorney’s office claim compensation of Rs 1.51 billion from Lamichhane and other accused, including Gorkha Media Network Chairperson GB Rai and former Nepal Police DIG Chhabi Lal Joshi who also served as director of the media network.
The former Deputy Prime Minister is expected to be tried on cooperative fraud, organized crime, and money laundering charges.
The latest extension to Lamichhane’s remand expires on Sunday.
Lamichhane and others are also under investigation in Rupandehi, Kathmandu, Chitwan, and Parsa districts for cooperative fraud.
