KATHMANDU: CG Motors, a Chaudhary Group enterprise, has secured the distributorship of Hero MotoCorp in the Nepali market.
“Building on its vision to provide a world-class experience and products to its customers globally, Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, has appointed the diversified CG Motors as its distributor in Nepal,” a statement issued by CG Motors said on Monday.
Hero MotoCorp initially appointed NGM Hero as its distributor in Nepal in 2014. Before that, Syakar Company Ltd held the distributorship of both Honda and Hero Honda two-wheeler brands. Hero Honda Group decided to terminate its joint venture with Honda of Japan in 2010 and started producing two-wheelers under the Hero brand.
In the statement, CG Motors mentioned that Hero MotorCorp and CG Motors will establish a state-of-the-art greenfield facility for assembling products in Nepal. “This reflects the company’s commitment to the country, as the operations will bring new investments and create job opportunities. The facility will be located in Nawalpur district and have a capacity of 75,000 units per annum. Operations will begin from March 2024,” it added.
Sanjay Bhan, Head of Global Business at Hero MotoCorp, expressed excitement about partnering with the Chaudhary Group in Nepal. “We are confident of expanding our presence in the market with our new partner and look forward to solidifying this collaboration,” Bhan is quoted as saying in the statement.
Similarly, Nirvana Chaudhary, Managing Director of Chaudhary Group, stated that they were thrilled to announce a collaboration with Hero MotoCorp. “This partnership marks CG Motors’ ambitious re-entry into the automotive market, leveraging Hero MotoCorp’s renowned products and services. Our deep understanding of the local market dynamics will be instrumental in driving business growth,” he added.
