KATHMANDU: The China Foundation for Rural Development (CFRD) distributed warm packs to 1,249 children in Kanchanpur district to commemorate the auspicious occasion of the approaching Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese New Year.
Issuing a press statement, CFRD mentioned that it distributed warm packs to children from 11 community schools in Bedkot, Suklaphanta, and Krishnapur municipalities within the district last week.
“The distribution ceremony took place at Udaydev Secondary School in Bedkot Municipality. Bahadur Singh Thapa, Member of the Sudurpashchim Provincial Assembly, served as the Chief Guest for the ceremony, which also saw the participation of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Suklaphanta Municipality, the Deputy Mayor of Belkot Municipality, a representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, School Management Committee members, teachers, students, and parents,” CFRD said in the statement.
According to the statement, Provincial Assembly Member Thapa praised the commendable efforts of the Chinese organization in supporting disadvantaged communities and advocated for the improvement of educational standards in community schools.
“As the Chinese New Year celebration continues, the warmth of generosity and compassion continues to permeate through the community, bringing hope and comfort to those in need,” CFRD said in the statement.
Since 2019, CFRD has been implementing various programs to support needy children in different community schools across the country.
