KATHMANDU: Seven3Sports, the organizing partner of the Nepal T20 franchise cricket league of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), hasn’t paid match fees to players and prize money to winning teams, a central committee member of CAN has claimed.
After a series of criticism and controversies, CAN terminated the contract signed with the Indian company in January.
CAN Central Committee Member, Mohammad Daud Ansari, has expressed concern over the lack of legal action taken by CAN to recover the money owed by the Indian company, which includes dues to CAN, players, and franchisees. In a letter addressed to the CAN President, Ansari has questioned the legitimacy of Durgaraj Pathak’s appointment as the Secretary of CAN and raised doubts about the decisions made under his leadership.
Ansari has also requested information regarding the expenses incurred in the upgrades of Mulpani Cricket Ground and payments made to Yellow Pagoda Hotel in the current fiscal year.
Additionally, he has sought details of payments made by Levin Sports, the organizer of Nepal’s tri-series with Papua New Guinea and Malaysia, as well as the match between Nepal and Zimbabwe.
