KATHMANDU: Nepal has entered the semifinal of the CAVA Women’s Volleyball Challenge Cup despite losing to India in its final league match on Wednesday.
In the match played at the Nepal Sports Council (NSC) Covered Hall, Nepal lost its final group stage match by 1-3 sets. Although India outplayed Nepal taking the first set 25-12, Nepal improved its game but still lost to India 24-26. Nepal won the third set 25-21 and was leading 18-15 in the fourth set before eventually losing 21-25.
Nepal will now meet Group ‘A’ winner Kazakhstan which defeated Uzbekistan by 3-1 sets earlier on Wednesday in the semifinal. India on the other hand will play Group ‘B’ first runner-up Uzbekistan.
Eight teams are participating in the event being organized by the Central Asian Volleyball Association. This is the biggest women’s volleyball tournament that Nepal has hosted so far.
