Cabinet will approve the draft of Federal Education Act this week: PM

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has stated that the cabinet meeting scheduled for Tuesday will pass the draft of the Federal Education Act and forward it to the House of Representatives.

Speaking at a program organized to launch the Samajbadi Students Front on Sunday, Dahal claimed that the Act will address most of the problems currently seen in the education sector.

The government and the political parties have been drawing flak for the delay in bringing the federal act, even nine years after the promulgation of the constitution and the adoption of the federal setup. Education activists have been stating that the lack of a federal act is hindering the development of the education sector.

Meanwhile, Dahal also emphasized that the government has initiated a campaign against corruption. “We have launched a campaign against those involved in corruption and smuggling. This is not going to stop. We must win this battle for the prosperity of the country,” he said. “It is not a matter of impulse or political stunts.”

Dahal further announced that the government will investigate several other corruption and smuggling scandals. “This battle cannot be won by the Prime Minister and the government alone. We need the support of the people to win this battle,” Dahal added.
