CAAN suspends airport entry passes of FlyDubai officials for ‘spreading misleading news’

KATHMANDU: Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) Tuesday said it has suspended airport entry passes of the country manager and airport manager of FlyDubai for spreading misleading news that the FlyDubai FZ 576 flight suffered a bird strike.

“The Country Manager and Airport Manager of FlyDubai have been prevented from entering the airport and their airport passes have also been deactivated for spreading misleading news that FlyDubai’s FDZ576 flight suffered a bird strike last night,” CAAN said in a tweet post on Monday.

FlyDubai’s FZ 576 reported engine issues right after departure from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu at around 9:30 pm on Monday. People were panicked as the plane with fire bellowing from one of its engines flew over Kathmandu sky.

“flydubai flight FZ 576 from Kathmandu Airport (KTM) has safely landed in Dubai International (DXB) at 00:11 local time after experiencing a bird strike during takeoff from Kathmandu,” FluDubai spokesperson told Dubai Media Office, according to Khaleej Times.

TIA had prepared for an emergency landing after the pilot reported to the air traffic controller about engine failure. But the pilots safely flew the plane to Dubai with one engine operating.
