BUTWAL: The Butwal–Palpa section of Siddhartha Highway, which had been completely blocked due to continuous rainfall, reopened on Tuesday afternoon after nearly 22 hours of disruption.
The road had been closed since Monday evening when a landslide with large boulders hit the road near Siddhababa Temple in Tinau Rural Municipality–3 and several other locations.
According to the Dobhan Police Office, vehicular traffic resumed at around 4:30 pm on Tuesday after an all-day effort to clear the debris.
This section of the Siddhartha Highway frequently opens and closes during rainfall, as landslides with rocks and debris often block the road. Police have urged travelers to remain cautious when using the route during rainy season.
