KATHMANDU: At least 22 people were injured when a bus carrying picnickers from Jaharsinghpauwa to Kathmandu met with an accident near Lapsiphedi, above the town of Sankhu, on Wednesday evening.
According to the District Police Range, Kathmandu, the bus was carrying around 40 staff members of Nature Hub and was returning from a picnic in Jaharsinghpauwa.
Videos shared on social media show police and local residents rescuing the injured and transporting them to hospitals.
Eyewitnesses say the bus plunged about 100 feet off the road into a dense forest.
The injured are receiving treatment at Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital in Sankhu and Nepal Medical College Teaching Hospital in Attarkhel. The condition of the two injured passengers is reported to be serious.
