KATHMANDU: Ram Bahadur Bomjon, a self-styled spiritual leader, has been convicted of the sexual assault of a minor.
A single bench District Judge Jivan Kumar Bhandari of the Sarlahi District Court found Bomjon guilty of the crime. The court also convicted Gyan Kumar Bomjon and Jit Bahadur Tamang as accomplices. They were included in the charge sheet filed by the Sarlahi District Government Attorney’s Office.
The district court will determine the quantum of punishment next week.
The Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police arrested Ram Bahadur Bomjon in Kathmandu on January 9. Subsequently, the Sarlahi District Court placed him in judicial custody on January 11.
Bomjon was charged with rape of a minor girl in his camp. An arrest warrant had been issued by the Sarlahi District Court four years ago.
