Birendranagar Municipality fails to remove street vendors

SURKHET: Birendranagar Municipality of Surkhet has failed to evict unorganized businesses from the streets of Birendranagar

The municipality had sent a team with an excavator to dismantle such establishments in Hong Kong Bazaar, Hatiyaline, and Gdamline areas of Birendranagar-6 on Wednesday. While some vendors initially began to comply by preparing to clear the streets, they soon got united and vandalized the excavator. The municipality called back its team after the confrontation between its team and businesspeople began to escalate.

Approximately 125 small businesses operate in these areas.

Earlier on March 6, the municipality had requested unorganized businesses to vacate the streets by Tuesday.
