Biraj Bhakta Shrestha reelected from Kathmandu-8

KATHMANDU: Biraj Bhakta Shrestha of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been reelected to the House of Representatives from Kathmandu-8.

According to the final results published by the Election Commission (EC) on Friday evening, Shrestha received 24,592 votes, far ahead of his closest contender, Suman Sayami of the Nepali Communist Party, who garnered 3,217 votes.

Shrestha, who received 10,105 when he was elected in 2022, managed to increase his votes by more than 14,000.

Sapana Rajbhandari of the Nepali Congress (NC) finished third with 2,835 votes.

Meanwhile, Rajesh Shakya of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) (CPN-UML) and Nabin Shahi of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) received 1,903 votes each.
