KATHMANDU: Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) has decided take to the streets to protest arrest warrants for its key leaders including General Secretray Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplab’.
Issuing a statement on Tuesday, the party said the issuance of arrest warrants was illegal and an anarchic act.
The party has decided to organize torch procession on Tuesday, burn efficy of judges on Wednesday and organize a nationwide protest a 2 pm on Thursday.
The Kathmandu District Court on Monday issued 35-day arrest warrants for Biplab and other CPN leaders Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma, Hemanta Prakash Oli, Maila Lama, and Raju Karki on Monday. THe district court said the warrants were issued according to the court order passed on November 26 in response to a sedition case filed against the leaders over two months ago.
“The district court’s order is not only a direct violation of the three-point agreement reached in March, 2021, but also a subversive attack on the initiative to resolve the country’s problems in a peaceful manner”, the party said in the statement. “The party strongly condemns such illegal, uncivilized and anarchic behavior demonstrated by the judge of the responsible state body.”
