KATHMANDU: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have confirmed that the body of Nepali youth Bipin Joshi, who was abducted by Hamas during the October 7, 2023, attacks, has been recovered and brought back for burial.
Writing a post on X on Tuesday, IDF said it had informed the families of Bipin Joshi and three other deceased hostages that the remains of their loved ones had been returned.
“According to the information and intelligence available to the IDF, Bipin was abducted at the age of 23 from a shelter in Kibbutz Alumim by Hamas. It is assessed that he was murdered in captivity during the first months of the war,” the IDF said in the post.
The IDF added that the final conclusions regarding the circumstances of his death will be determined after examinations by Israel’s National Center of Forensic Medicine.
Bipin had traveled to Israel under the Learn and Earn program of the Israeli government to study agriculture.
