KATHMANDU: Bindabasini Kansakar, a Member of the House of Representatives from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), was sworn in Monday.
Speaker Devraj Ghimire administered the oath of office and secrecy to Kansakar at the meeting hall of the Law, Justice, and Human Rights Committee of the House of Representatives.
RSP nominated Kansakar to the House of Representatives under the proportional representation system following the expulsion of Member of the House of Representatives Dhaka Kumar Shrestha from the party. RSP took the action after Shrestha was heard soliciting Rs 20 million from hospital operator Durga Prasain in a leaked telephone conversation.
Although Shrestha had challenged the RSP’s decision to expel him at the Supreme Court, the apex court last week upheld the party’s decision.
Kansakar is an acid attack survivor.
