Bimala Bhandari becomes Gandaki’s first press registrar

POKHARA: Bimala Bhandari has been appointed as the Press Registrar of Gandaki Province.

A cabinet meeting held on Friday decided to appoint Bhandari as the province’s first press registrar. Bhandari is the incumbent chairperson of the Kaski district chapter of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ).

The province government had called for applications for the position of press registrar on July 31, giving a 15-day deadline. Five individuals had applied for the position responding to the notice.

According to Keshavraj Dhakal, member secretary of the selection committee, Bharat Koirala, Bhanu Parajuli, Durga Adhikari and Sarita Timilsina Pageni had applied for the position along with Bhandari.

The three-member selection committee, chaired by Minister for Economic Affairs Dr Takraj Gurung, included senior journalist Rabindra Bastola as an expert member.

Bhandari has been appointed for a four-year term as per the Gandaki Province Mass Communication Act, 2023.
