KATHMANDU: Former CPN-UML leader Ghanashyam Bhusal has joined CPN (Unified Socialist).
Unified Socialist welcomed Bhusal to the party’s fold during an event held at their office on Friday. Bhusal had contested for the position of vice president in the UML’s general convention held in Chitwan last year, but was defeated. This caused a rift in his relationship with party president KP Sharma Oli. As a result, Oli denied him a ticket to contest the November 20 election, which prompted Bhusal to leave UML.
Despite having the support of five other parties, Bhusal lost the election as an independent candidate in Rupandehi-1. He has now joined Unified Socialist, which split from UML. At the event held at Unified Socialist’s office, Bhusal stated that UML is suffering from a lack of ideology.
Bhusal had set certain conditions to join Unified Socialist. Unified Socialist General Secretary Beduram Bhusal a few days ago wrote to Bhusal, affirming the party’s decision to meet his conditions.
