KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has said that the party will decide on the renewal of former President Bidya Devi Bhandari’s party membership after holding necessary discussions.
Addressing the meeting of the party’s Politburo on Friday, Oli said Bhandari was made President twice with the belief that she would not return to active politics.
According to a member present at the meeting, Oli said that Bhandari’s party membership has not yet been renewed.
In his address, Oli said there is a need to curb disorder within the party. “There is a major and organized attack on the party,” the member quoted Oli as saying. “At such a time, attempts to stir chaos from within the party are inappropriate. This must stop immediately. If it doesn’t, the party will stop it.”
Prime Minister Oli also said that he learned about Bhandari’s potential return to active politics from media reports.
Referring to Bhandari, Oli said there is a difference between joining active politics and becoming party chairperson based on certain claims.
