KATHMANDU: Bank and financial institutions reported a net profit of Rs 9.37 billion in the first month of the current fiscal year 2025/26.
According to the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), commercial banks alone posted a net profit of Rs 8.38 billion in Shrawan (mid-July to mid-August), or 89.33% of the total net profit of BFIs, in the review period.
Similarly, development banks and financial companies reported net profits of Rs 820 million and Rs 180 million, respectively.
BFIs had reported a total net profit of Rs 10.16 billion in the first month of 2024/25. Likewise, the total net profit of BFIs in 2024/25 stood at Rs 78.8 billion.
Among commercial banks, Global IME Bank reported the highest net profit of Rs 784.5 million in the first month of 2025/26, followed by Nabil Bank at Rs 716.4 million and Nepal Investment Mega Bank (NIMB) at Rs 634.2 million.
