KATHMANDU: Badri KC has been elected as the President of the Non-Resident Nepalis Association (NRNA). However, two other presidential candidates, RK Sharma and Mahesh Shrestha, have stated that they will not accept the results.

According to the Election Committee, KC received 1,378 votes, while Sharma and Shrestha received 1,281 and 1,225 votes, respectively.

Sharma and Shrestha have accused KC of tampering with the voting process to obtain the results in his favor.

Initially, one of the vice presidential candidates, Dr. Keshav Poudel, was announced to have received zero votes. Following an outcry over the alleged misappropriation of votes, the election committee later declared that Dr. Poudel had received 249 votes.

The two presidential candidates, Sharma and Shrestha, argue that the Poudel episode highlights the potential for manipulation of electronic voting results. Their supporters chanted slogans against KC after the election results were announced.

Meanwhile, Dr. Hemraj Sharma, Robin Sherchan, Raj Regmi, Dr. Binod Shrestha, Ram Sharan Simkhada, and Khagendra Neupane have been elected as vice presidents.

Similarly, Rojina Pradhan has been elected Vice President (Women) with 1,947 votes. Roshan Thapa has been elected as Vice President (Youth), Gaouri Raj Joshi as General Secretary, and Som Sapkota and Pravin Gurung as Deputy General Secretaries.

Likewise, Manoj Kumar Shrestha, Dr. Gyanendra Regmi, Dr. Navraj Rosyara, Bhim KC Kamal, Swatantra Pratap Shah, and Paras Mani Pokharel were elected as secretaries, and Tika Gurung Radhika was elected as the secretary (women).

Sudan Thapa has been elected as treasurer, and Krishna Prasad Timalsina, Abhimanyu Basnet, and Tilak Prasad Gaire have been elected as joint treasurers. Similarly, Amrita Thapa has been elected as a joint treasurer.

In addition, Anuja Pradhan has been elected as the International Coordinator (Women), and Supendra Ghising as the Youth Coordinator.

A total of 4,200 representatives from 59 countries participated in the voting, according to the election committee.
