KATHMANDU: Barahi Group, which is in the hospitality business for the past four decades, is building a five-star hotel in Sedi of Pokhara with an investment of Rs 6 billion.
Organizing a press conference in Kathmandu on Wednesday, the group said that the hotel with 171 keys, being built on 63 ropanis of land, will come into operation in 2026.
The hotel will have facilities like a casino, spa, fitness center, and banquet hall capable of seating 1,200 people at a time.
Barahi Group’s subsidiary Barahi Sedi Limited is building the hotel. The company also plans to float an initial public offering (IPO) to raise capital.
According to the group, the hotel has already achieved 46% physical progress.
“We felt a growing demand for property with five-start amenities after Fulbari Resort shut its operations. Our upcoming hotel will cater to high-tourists and the MICE segment,” Yogendra Thapa, corporate director of Barahi Group, said.
Barahi Sedi Ltd is promoted by eight individuals with 87% of the stakes owned by Hari Prasad Poudel and his three family members.
Barahi Group ventured into the hospital business with a 10-room Paradise Guest House in Lakeside Pokhara four decades ago. The group currently operates Hotel Barahi, Sarangkot Mountain Lodge, and Aabas Pokhara in Pokhara, Barahi Jungle Lodge in Chitwan, and Hotel Barahi Kathmandu in Kathmandu.
