Bangladesh wins SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship title

KATHMANDU: Bangladesh defeated Nepal 3-0 to lift the title of the SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship.

In the match played in Dhaka on Thursday, Bangladesh dominated the field and piled pressure on Nepal from the very beginning. Shahid Akhter Ripa opened the scoring for the hosts in the 42nd minute.

Captain Shamsunnahar doubled the score in the injury time of the first half. She received the ball from Aklima and slot past the Nepali keeper.

Amisha Karki had the chance to hit one back for Nepal. But Bangladesh goalie Rupna Chakma made a brilliant save in the 80th minute to deny the Npeali forward.

Unnati Khatun scored Bangladesh’s third goal, tapping in a beautiful delivery by Ripa.
