KATHMANDU: Reshu Aryal, the education advisor to the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, has tendered her resignation, expressing dissatisfaction with the working style of Mayor Balen Shah.
Aryal was appointed to the post 10 months ago. “I have served as a volunteer for 10 months using my full capacity. While assisting the youth leadership of Kathmandu to achieve their reform goals, I found recent activities and decision-making approach of the Mayor against my norms and values,” she wrote in a social media post. Dhungana also said a situation of conflict of interest has also emerged.
Her family is involved in the film distribution and exhibition business. Aryal’s husband has been criticizing KMC after it decided to ban the screening of the Hindi language film ‘Aadipurush’ in Kathmandu.
Even after stepping down, Aryal said she would also always be active in education reform works.
Aryal had also expressed objection to KMC’s decision to shut an education fair organized by the Higher Secondary Schools Association of Nepal (HISSAN) in Kathmandu.
