DHANGADHI: The local administration has deployed army and police personnel after the situation in Martadi – the district headquarters of Bajura – became tense on Monday.

All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) – the student wing of CPN-UML – has organized a protest program in Martadi to protest the death of its central committee member Chetan Aidi.

The local administration has mobilized army and police personnel to prevent any untoward incidents in the district.

ANNFSU has accused the Nepali Congress (NC) cadres of lynching Aidi at his home on Monday evening as disputes heightened between the two parties over the voting process in Natyashwari Basic School Polling Station in Tribeni-7.

Aidi was rushed to Bayalpata Hospital for treatment but was declared dead on arrival.

The body has been kept at Bayalapata Hospital, according to the hospital administration.

Tensions between the two parties increased at the Triveni Basic School Polling station after a cadre of Nepali Congress (NC) died in police firing. Police say they fired on air after cadres of NC and UML clashed. Sources say the clashes occurred after NC cadres tried to capture the booth.
