KATHMANDU: Bahadur Singh Lama of the Nepali Congress (NC) has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Bagmati Province.
Province Chief Yadav Chandra Sharma appointed Lama to the position as per Article 168 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal, 2015.
Lama staked his claim to form a new government in the province with the support of 64 province assembly members of NC and CPN-UML on Tuesday morning. He will be sworn in at 11 am on Wednesday, according to the Office of the Province Chief.
NC and UML have agreed to lead the province government by turns. As per the understanding reached between the two parties, NC will lead the government for the past 20 months, while UML will assume government leadership for the remaining 20 months until the 2027 election.
