POKHARA: Bagmati Province has been crowned the champion of the Under-15 School Sports Competition held in Pokhara.
Bagmati secured a total of 24 medals, including 11 gold, 6 silver, and 7 bronze, to claim the champion’s title. Lumbini Province finished second, while Gandaki Province stood third.
Lumbini Province won a total of 19 medals – 6 gold, 3 silver, and 10 bronze, while Gandaki secured 20 medals with 5 gold, 8 silver, and 7 bronze.
Karnali, Koshi, Sudurpashchim, and Madhesh provinces finished in fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh positions, respectively. Karnali won 5 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals. Koshi clinched 1 gold, 7 silver, and 8 bronze medals. Similarly, Sudurpashchim won 8 medals, including 1 gold, while Madhesh secured 4 medals, including 1 gold.
Bagmati won five gold medals in table tennis and two in basketball.
The Under-15 School Sports Competition was jointly organized by the National Sports Council and the Gandaki Province Sports Council. The two-day competition saw students from all seven provinces participate in athletics, basketball, rugby, table tennis, badminton, and chess.
Tankalal Ghising, member secretary of the National Sports Council (NSC); Shreedhar Sharma, member secretary of Gandaki Province Sports Council; and NSC Board Member Rajesh Gurung, among other dignitaries, gave away medals to the students.
A total of 630 participants, including players, coaches, and managers from all seven provinces, took part in the competition.
