KATHMANDU: Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, Shalikram Jamkattel, has decided to step down.
Ratna Prasad Dhakal, chief whip of the CPN (Maoist Center) in the Bagmati Province Assembly, said the Chief Minister has decided to not undergo a floor test.
Chief Minister Jamkattel’s government fell into minority after the main coalition partner, CPN-UML, withdrew its support on July 8 after reaching a new power-sharing agreement with the Nepali Congress at the center.
Despite this, Jamkattel had earlier said that he would face the province assembly rather than step down.
As per the agreement reached between NC and UML, NC will form the new coalition government in Bagmati.
