POKHARA: AVA Football Club of Uzbekistan has advanced to the semifinals of the Aaha Rara Pokhara Gold Cup, securing a 1-0 victory over Planning Boys United in the fourth quarterfinal match at the Pokhara Stadium on Tuesday.
Umidjon Karilov scored the only goal of the match in the 56th minute. Karilov’s powerful strike from outside the box went straight into the net.
Although Planning Boys created several promising chances, they failed to convert them into goals.
AVA Football Club will meet Jawalakhel Youth Club in the second semifinal on Thursday. In the first semifinal, Manang Marsyangdi Club will take on hosts Sahara Club Pokhara on Wednesday.
The final will be played on Saturday.
The winner will receive a cash prize of Rs 1.4 million along with a trophy, medals, and certificates, while the runner-up will take home Rs 701,000 as well as a trophy and medals.
The best player of the tournament will receive a scooter, while winners in five other categories will be awarded with cash prizes of Rs 25,000 each.
