Attorney General Dr. Din Mani Pokharel steps down

KATHMANDU: Attorney General Dr. Din Mani Pokharel has stepped down.

Dr. Pokharel submitted his resignation to President Ram Chandra Paudel through KP Sharma Oli on Tuesday. “Dr. Pokharel’s resignation has been accepted,” the Office of the President said in a statement.

The post of Attorney General is the chief legal adviser to the government.

Since Attorneys General are appointed by the President on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, it is customary for them to step down with the change in government.
