
KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Arzu Rana Deuba has requested Japanese Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Miyaji Takuma, to provide necessary assistance for the reconstruction of the BP Highway.
Deuba made the request during her meeting with Miyaji on the sidelines of the 8th Indian Ocean Conference in Muscat on Monday.
The BP Highway, which was built with Japanese assistance, suffered severe damage due to massive floods in the last week of September last year.
The highway section between Bhakundebensi and Nepalthok has suffered extensive damage from floods and landslides. The detailed project report for reconstruction prepared by the Departmet of Roads has esimated the reconstruction cost at Rs 9.66 billion.
