Artists, Youtubers held for promoting 1XBet on their shows

KATHMANDU: One day after busting a racket involved in online betting and cryptocurrency transactions, the police arrested artists and YouTubers on Thursday on charges of promoting the illegal online betting platform 1XBet.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, those arrested on the day include comedian Marich Man Shrestha from Banasthali, Pawan Khatiwada from Dhankuta, and Raju Poudel from Pokhara.

Similarly, YouTubers Alish Rai from Udayapur, Jalan Gharti Magar from Rolpa, Ganesh Devkota from Mugu, Saroj Ghimire from Morang, and Begam Nepali from Pyuthan were arrested. They are accused of including promotions of 1XBet in their YouTube videos.

On Wednesday, the police arrested five individuals for their alleged involvement in online betting and cryptocurrency transactions. Among the arrested, Dinesh Khaka alone was found to have handled transactions worth Rs 640 million on 1XBet.
