KATHMANDU: Tribhuvan Army Club and Sankata Club play goalless draw in the Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division National League at Dasharath Stadium on Sunday. Although Sankata dominated the game and created a lot of opportunities against last season’s first runner-up, it failed to find the back of the army net.
Sankata’s impressive forward lineup of Sunil Bal, Junior Kenge, and Sunil Shrestha was too hot to handle for the army defense. All three forwards had the opportunity to score but failed. Kenge alone missed three opportunities in the first half. In the 11th minute of the match, his shot flew over the bar, and his shot in the 32nd minute was saved by army goalie Bikesh Kuthu. Kenge missed another chance after a minute.
Army defender Deepak Gurung saved Sunil Shrestha’s shot from the goal line in the 54th minute. Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) had an opportunity in the 15th minute from the corner. Unmarked Deepak Gurung received a short pass from Dinesh Hemjan. But his shot was saved by Sankata goalie Tikendra Singh Thapa. Nawayung got a free header in the 50th minute but missed. Army full-back Santosh KC ran through the left wing and hit a power shot at Sankata’s goal, but goalie Thapa was alert and easily collected the ball.
Thapa also collected Dinesh Hemjan’s strike from the 18-yard box in injury time.
