Arjun Prasad Pokharel appointed finance secretary

KATHMANDU: The government has brought in a new secretary at the Ministry of Finance with less than a month remaining to bring the fiscal budget.

Arjun Prasad Pokharel has been appointed as the finance secretary. He was with the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.

As per the Constitution of Nepal, 2015, the government must bring a fiscal budget on May 29. The new fiscal year begins in mid-July.

Similarly, Toyam Rai has been transferred from the finance ministry to the Office of the Vice President.

Pokharel, who was promoted to secretary three years ago, entered government as a postal officer in 1994.
