Party won’t split based on illegitimate application: JSPN

KATHMANDU: The Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal (JSPN) has termed the application filed with the Election Commission (EC) for splitting the party as illegitimate.

Issuing a statement on Monday, JSPN Spokesperson Manish Suman said the party cannot split based on the illegitimate application. “The parliament session has already been summoned, and the ordinance related to party split has been repealed. The majority of central members remain committed to his party,” Suman said in the statement. “In such a situation, we request to the EC that the party cannot be split based on the illegitimate application filed by some individuals with a divisive mindset.”

JSPN’s official response came after seven lawmakers of the party, led by Vice Chairperson Ashok Kumar Rai, filed an application with the EC for the registration of a new party – Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP).
