KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Narayan Kaji Shrestha has said that the government’s actions against corruption have ignited a sense of hope among the general people.
Shrestha, who is also the vice chairman of CPN (Maoist Center), said the Maoist Centre had initiated a campaign from the government, parliament, and the streets to promote good governance, economic prosperity, and justice. Addressing a program organized by the Lalitpur district committee of his party, Shrestha said, “Smugglers, criminals and corrupt individuals have become terrified by the campaign launched by the government led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal. People are happy with this campaign,” he added.
He said the government is firm on giving continuity to the campaign. “We are resolute in our efforts to combat corruption. The campaign has garnered substantial support from the general populace,” he added.
From handling the Bhutanese refugee scam to addressing the Lalita Niwas land controversy and confronting the loan sharks, the government’s actions are integral to its endeavor against poor governance, he explained.
On the occasion, Shrestha welcomed 150 individuals who joined the party.
